Video Enhance AI (v2.6.4), Sharpen Ai (v4.1.0), DeNoise Ai (v3.7.0) and GigaPixel AI (v6.1.0) are all native M1 and have been for awhile, I by accident downloaded the wrong versions once but I think Topaz patched their system so when you request from an Arm64 machine (M1) it gives you the right version. What I can tell you is that the team at Topaz have made huge gains with the 4 that are native from before they were native (using Rosetta and then Rosetta2). That said, right now there are four that are native, I use them daily and have been part of the beta developers for over two years now. Been on the M1 train since it started, recently sold the farm to grab an M1 Ultra 128 and like you, I’m looking forward to all the apps being native. But, you do lose the performance increase of running native mode on Apple Silicon.įellow M1 user here. That is the only way such an app can use plugins or extensions that have not be updated. Note you can decide to run a Universal app with Rosetta II. See attached picture of the Info dialog box of Lr Classic and Photoshop. Apps that have not been updated and have to use Rosetta II emulation are shown as Intel applications. The terms Apple uses is Universal to indicate an app that has been updated to run native mode (without Rosetta II emulation, on an Apple Silicon based Mac. Note: You will not see the “Open in Rosetta” option if you are right-clicking on an “alias”.įor more information on the replacement technology for CEP, see UXP for Adobe Photoshop. Once you launch under Rosetta, you may need to go to Window / Extensions (legacy) to open your CEP panels again. ![]() Workaround: To use extensions that rely on CEP, install and run them in Rosetta mode only. Run Intel-based plugins with Photoshop on Rosetta to install and use those plugins until your plugin provider delivers Apple silicon-compatible versions. When birding, if I can't get close enough to fill the frame, then I'll run the image though Gigapixel x2 or even x4 and then crop to get much better results.Workaround: Intel-based plug-ins will not appear in Photoshop. If you are going to need to heavily crop, then Gigapixel is well worth the money. There were times when I thought camera shake was the issue, but, say, out of focus provided better results, so there is trial and error with Topaz as well. With Topaz it's a good idea to try all their models for sharpening (standard, blur, out of focus, too soft) to see which one provides the best results. Topaz sharpen is excellent If the focus is off a bit, or there was some subject movement, camera shake or the image is just soft, but again PS is pretty good at it as well, just a lot more trial and error using different tools in PS. If just a part of the photo is noisy, like a dark background, then I find masking using layers in PS and applying noise reduction to the masked, noisy area works better than using Topaz DeNoise on the entire photo. ![]() If I had to crank up the ISO and noise is an issue, then Topaz DeNoise does a very nice job, although the noise reduction tools in PS are very good as well. For my workflow, if the image is sharp and low noise, the tools provided in LrC are all that's needed. The Topaz suite is excellent, but as with all tools, it has it's limitations. ![]() Sorry, can't help you with Affinity Photo 2, but have the Topaz Suite and use it with the Adobe LrC and PS.
